Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care system that uses evidence-based research and natural treatment methods to address a variety of acute and chronic health conditions. The underlying principle of naturopathic medicine is to treat the root cause of the disease by stimulating the innate healing power of the body. Naturopathic doctors take the time to evaluate all aspects of a person, including physical health, mental wellbeing, & social/environmental factors, in order to develop customized treatment plans that best address the person's needs. As a naturopathic doctor, I work alongside other healthcare providers as part of a person's integrative health team in order to ensure the best quality healthcare for my patients.
WHY VISIT A NATUROPATHIC DOCTOR?
If you're looking for answers to your health concerns, are having symptoms that are odd - such as inexplicable fatigue, sickness, or just don't feel 'right', and you want to have an active role in your health, visiting a naturopathic doctor may be right for you. Naturopathic doctors spend a significant amount time with their patients addressing all health concerns; you won't be limited to 5 minute or 1 health question per visit. By assessing all factors contributing to health, naturopathic doctors develop customized treatment plans that work and last.

Naturopathic doctors are required to complete an undergraduate degree, usually 3-4 years in length before attending an accredited naturopathic program. After completing the 4 year naturopathic medical program, naturopathic doctors must successfully pass their Naturopathic Physician Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), a two part exam which evaluates the practitioner's basic core science knowledge in addition to their primary care expertise. Naturopathic doctors may also be required to complete additional board examinations depending on the province or state legislation. In Ontario, naturopathic doctors must pass the Ontario clinical board examinations in order to receive a license to practice.
